‘The Milkmaid’ by Johannes Vermeer

Visited Rijksmuseum in the morning.  I wanted to see ‘The Night Watch’ by Rembrandt and while it was quite breathtaking, I probably preferred this masterpiece by Vermeer.  
After 3 hours of paintings we felt ready for a canal tour, followed by a vino in a cafe while watching the Dutch skate on a rink at Museum Square.  All very festive.  Jode picked us up and we had a delicious Thai carry out with the family.  
Schipol was a nightmare with long, long queues.  Despite arriving over 2 hours before flight, we eventually had to run to make our plane - with only 5 mins to spare!  Luckily I wasn’t working Monday as I spent morning in bed recovering - but very happy memories!
