Cesar Manrique Foundation
This morning we decided to make use of the trusty Seat Ibiza again before we had do have it back at midday. An early rise to cloudy skies having lost an hour of our holiday due to the clock changing.
Off we went to the Cesar Manrique Foundation, in a nearby town. Cesar Manrique is Lanzarote's most famous artist. The foundation is in his old house and there are 5 lava bubbles that serve as rooms in the basement. It's a really interesting structure. It houses a collection of work including 2 Picasso sketches. I was aware of Manrique's sculptures and public art work, however not his paintings. I loved these. The textures and colours were amazing and you could see a direct influence to his volcanic surroundings. It was a great way to spend a cloudy morning.
Back to Costa Teguise and the sun was out :-)
A leisurely lunch and then some time in the sun.
Unfortunately this will be my last blip from Lanzarote as we are on an early flight home in the morning :-(
