Brewery

Barney the budgie has been staying at the vet this week as he wasn't eating or drinking. I visited him today and he was a little better. The vet is at East Sheen near Richmond, so after my visit I popped to Mortlake on the Thames. It is the finish point of the annual University Boat Race.
The Mortlake Brewery has existed since the 15th century. In 1889 it became a Watneys
brewery and when the Watneys Stag brewery in London Victoria was demolished in 1959, the Stag name was applied to the Mortlake Brewery - albeit 30 years later. See extra. It has been associated with Scottish Courage, Heinekin and Anheuser-Busch.
Sadly the brewery was sold and closed in 2015 and there are plans to redevelop the area into 850 apartments.
