A perfect Easter Sunday!
Sun shining, birds singing, friend's laughter,Yorkshire countryside, a perfect Easter Sunday!
What a wonderful walk!
Glad to have a sit down and a drink in the pub afterwards though!!
Decided on a collage blip.
The walk started out at the maypole in Barwick-in-Elmet.(1st photo)
86ft high ( I think the best I have seen)
A Maypole Festival is held every 3 years, which includes of course dancing round the pole.
The next festival is 26th May 2014.
Next photo taken in Aberford. There was an Easter Festival on the village green for the children. Decorated hats, Easter egg hunts, quizzes etc. all having a great time, with mums, and dads (dads enjoying a drink outside the pub!)
Stopped here and had our picnic lunch by the river, sat in the warm sunshine!!!
Next photo (top) of the "Love Tree".A very unusual configuration of two trees growing into one another.
In about 1920 Victor Stead grafted 3 beech saplings together to form a letter N.
N for Nellie his sweetheart, whom he later married.
Full story, and also, the story about Parlington Hall, ruins of which we passed.
see here
The last photo is of two little Spring lambs, also enjoying their first day of warm sunshine!
Home now. Have had a soak, and a cup of tea, and thinking I couldn't have wished for a better Easter Day.
I hope you have all enjoyed it too.
