Venus above Monsaraz

We'd gone before sunset hoping for clear skies and a full moon rise, but it wasn't to be. Nevertheless it's always interesting to wander around such an atmospheric old place. The church (below Venus) is one of few old churches that are wider than they are long, the reason here is that it is a reworked mosque and there was so little room for change within the hilltop town walls that they were forced to keep the original mosque layout (which I much prefer!)
