Europe's largest wading bird but, in Britain, they have sadly lost half their number in the last twenty years. Climate change and vanishing habitat are the likely culprits. They have a lovely call. 
Very dull and mizzly when I took this, and from some distance.
Extra: Sentinel heron, with what looks like a cormorant in flight.
