Building Site?
They have been breaking up rocks and grading the plot behind the green strip six days a week, 9 hours a day for what seems like weeks. The earth moving equipment is still there, two machines concealed behind the trees but the one most clearly visible in the picture is the one with the infernal beeping which was almost constant today.
I went out to take some pictures before the tree guys come on Monday. Most of the trees in this shot are not on our property, but I think in addition to losing the hated brown fried leaves we will lose even more of the screen we used to have.
I woke up filled with energy and set to go to the fabric store to get some sashing and backing material for the current quilt, but the energy drained away and was replaced by a stiff neck and a headache, so I put it off for today. Necessity is the mother of invention and I think I have figured out something I like better. Something in me hated to go out and buy anything other than backing, as my initial inspiration to start making quilts was born out of a challenge to myself to use up all the bits of pieces that I brought with me from Berkeley and never used until the pandemic forced me to stay home and make masks out of the same fabrics.
Tomorrow is another day and the earth mover does seem to honor the Sabbath, if not the desire to sleep a little later than 7am on a Saturday, so we should be able to enjoy a day of peace before everything starts again on Monday morning.
