Illumination
Nipped down to the mussel bay to collect a few for a risotto. The sun was floodlighting the west-facing cliffs and the wet beach reflected the colour.
The next bay along, horseshoe-shaped, had lost the sunlight already. Creeping into the tiny bivouac there (extra) made from a plastic dingy upturned on a low stone walls I was reminded of the 22 sailors who waited for rescue on Elephant Island in the hope that Shackleton, Worsley and Crean would succeed in traversing the island to reach help on the other side. They survived living in two upturned boats in the bitter cold for 128 days before a ship took them off.
