THE MEMOIRS OF WILSON HOLMES
Wilson has been working on his new novel, ‘The Memoirs of Wilson Holmes’.
He claims that it’s semi-autobiographical, although I find that very difficult to believe…
The tale – set in Victorian times – revolves around the theft of a valuable jewel-encrusted Golden Ant sculpture, which is to be exhibited in the London’s Natural History Museum, but is hijacked by a desperate band of cutthroat jewel thieves.
The story is told in the form of a narrative by Byron Holmes, the good-hearted and brave but (very slightly) less intelligent brother of the remarkable protagonist Wilson Holmes, in the form of a diary.
Wilson Holmes puts the laughable efforts of the Bow Street Runners – led by Inspector Lestrade – to shame with his brilliant deductive reasoning and inspired leaps of logical thinking!
I’m certain I’ve encountered something similar in the past, but I just can’t put my finger on it…
