So there i was in my new hot out the amazon bag, double lined cardy camera in hand poised and sat  comfortably in my wheelchair swamped under a duvet. Birds were industrious, feeding on all feeders. great tits, blue tits  male & female chaffinches  & a solitary albeit regular visitor, a Nuthatch.
Then they were all gone. Nothing but silence. It was then i saw the reason why..
A lone magpie, often itself wary of buzzards and pesky cats.  Today however, with gay abandon it hopped along my shed roof content on raiding the feeders. Killer they maybe but handsome just the same, and hungry
