Another leaf
"What about calling it Canadia? Just make the leaf more red."
I did some re-writing today. I knew that what I’d written yesterday was not up to the mark. There’s a writer’s mantra that you should show the reader what is happening rather that tell them what has happened. It’s something I forget from time to time. You have to see the situation as the character sees it, hear what they hear, smell what they smell, feel their joy, their hurt and their pain. I’m writing a novel without a map or a compass. The idea is that if I develop rounded characters, they will decide what happens. Will it work? We’ll see. I’m listening to Another Side of Bob Dylan. He didn’t know where he was going either.
