Goodbye Rusty!

This morning was the end of our stay with Claire, and the end of Rusty's "holiday" with us.  I took a last walk with Rusty, through the nature reserve and down to the edge of the river, where I took this picture.
We saw three people skating along the river, past Claire's house. They were going carefully, pausing now and again to test the ice with a spiked pole. Judging by the weather forecast, with the weather getting colder, fewer and fewer hours with temperatures above zero, there will be a lot more skaters out.
We drove home and the second half of our trip it snowed heavily, so the trip went slowly, but we got home safely.
