Edinburgh
Took a trip into Edinburgh today with Trisha. First stop was this cafe/coffee shop...whatever you wish to call it. I never do this kind of thing because, if I were at home with my three sons, there is never time to just sit and chill out. This was my weekend of freedom though so I bought a coffee and a cherry pastry! Yum. Then we headed off to check out the national museum but it was closed due to a power failure. Oh well, we walked down the street to check out a couple of museums which did have power. The toy museum brought back some forgotten memories for us both and it kept us out of the sleet for a while.
The next port of call was a fabulous Turkish place were we had a fabulous lunch and sat in the window, people watching! Nothing better.
Finally, we went to participate in a tour of Mary King's Close which is situated under the Royal Mile and dates from the 1600s. So strange to step back in time in such a way....to walk along actual streets, to see the houses and workshops which have been hidden for over 400 years and remain as they were. Such fascinating history and really glad that we took the tour.
