Hildegard, a woodland fairy

Not all fairies are young.  Hildegard is a wise old soul who lives in the forest.  She doesn't leap about like the young fairies but keeps her feet firmly planted on the ground.  (Hard to see but she has brown tied up boots.)  I used a vintage dragonfly pin and she has a wee turtle in her hand.  As I was braiding her long grey hair it reminded me of visiting my grandmother in the nursing home near the end of her life.  I would brush and braid her long white hair and twist it up into a bun.  She had brushed my long hair when I was little and used a broom handle to brush my long curls around.  And I thought I was only making a needle felted fairy!
