The Honesty Box

The challenge for our Photo Group over the Christmas break is to take 12 images on the street we live on.  Well Shipley Road is approximately 7 kilometres so I should be able to manage to find 12 images in the next two months!!  I decided image number 1 would be the “Honesty Box” at Loganbrae Orchard.  I have to tell you that this Apple Juice is without a doubt the best apple juice you will ever taste and it very very popular with the locals.  We decided we would buy a bottle in preparation for two VERY VERY special visitors who are staying with us next week.  

I had a laugh when I got back in the car because I had spotted the security camera that was positioned so that it could keep an eye on the “Honesty Box”.  It was only when I was posting the image that I actually read the note and I have zeroed in to read what was on the note next to the box.  I was absolutely dismayed when I read that people had been totally dishonest and were putting this wonderful gesture at risk.  Now I know the two young people who own the orchard and they would be two of the hardest working people you would ever meet.  The locals love them and are so impressed with what they have done to this famous orchard since they took over a few years ago.  They have struggled through all sorts of adversity, none the least being Covid when they were forced to shut down at the height of the apple season.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the Honesty Box will become part of the landscape forever and those mean hearted people leave it well alone.
