Christmas Cactus or Schlumbergera

Schlumbergera is a small genus of cacti with six to nine species found in the coastal mountains of south-eastern Brazil. These plants grow on trees or rocks in habitats that are generally shady with high humidity, and can be quite different in appearance from their desert-dwelling cousins.

This one is in with a white one. it was my mums (she died in 2001 so its quite old) and she had had the white one a long time before that. one day she said " that white cactus has started producing pink flowers" she was really convinced it had. so I had a look and said "Have you put any cuttings in the pot some time ago" "well" says mum "I might have done I cant remember" so we deduced that is what happened, Now every year the pink one comes out first then the white one is out  about a week or so later. Its got the buds coming.

Nice day again, but more indoor work this and that. Cleaned the downstairs, gave the dog a good brushing (thats a regular job with her being a long haired collie)
cooked and stripped a chicken for their dinners. Molly hasn't eaten much for 2 days she's not seemed too well, then she ate a load of grass last night and threw up on the lounge carpet. Today she is full of beans and eaten all her chicken up no problem, and was bouncing around like a young puppy wanting to play.

That's it, off for tea now.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our American friends on Blip. I know it means a lot to you having had my sons American partner around for several years.
