Not so good...

The ups and downs... just one sale today, though to a lovely Geordie couple I really connected with, so hopefully will turn into a longer term customer...
I don't feel too bad because nobody is doing well, everyone is saying the crowd isn't the normal "calibre" (hope it's clear I definitely don't mean someone with plenty of money who's willing to spend lots on wine is a higher calibre person!!)... the hope is it's because Metro newspaper was giving away free tickets for Thursday, and the weekend will be better...
But it was a very tiring day - blip is from 8am waiting at the bus stop (a nithering 2°C) outside the hotel (Kew Bridge in the distance), show went on till 8pm, back at hotel 9pm. And today was the day about 15 groups sat down to taste, most of whom clearly had no intention of buying (usually about 30-50% buy, not 6%!), and some of whom were very difficult to get rid of!! - maybe Richard-head had the right approach when he just told an Indian couple to go away, stick with their Naked Wines, and stop wasting his time!! It's not really something I've experienced before - usually people can't wait to get away once they've decided they aren't buying... I guess for whatever reason today's crowd didn't twig that we're not paid to be there unless we sell, so they wouldn't understand the frustration... tomorrow I think I'll tell them (nicely) if people stick around chatting...!! (Oh, and that's not to mention the stream of punters who would sit down at one of our tables to eat their lunch - it's quite clear the tables are for wine tasting, not just public access, you wonder what goes through people's minds sometimes...!!
