Fernsehturm Berlin

I started the day recording my radio show from our hotel room, focussing it exclusively on tracks recorded at Hansa studio.

After that, we headed out to the König Gallery, which is housed in St Agnes Church, a wonderful old brutalist building. It speaks well of the citizens of Berlin, I think, that on a drizzly Sunday morning, the queue to get in stretched way down the road.

Unfortunately, our plans didn't allow time for us to join them and so we took a bus back to the Marien Quarter in order to have lunch in the revolving restaurant of the  Fernsehturm, over two hundred metres up in the sky.

It's an absolute testament to the Minx that she booked this despite her vertigo and, indeed, for a few minutes I thought we were going to have to cancel our plans but once we were sat down - well, a few minutes after that - she was able to enjoy the constantly changing view without feeling too wobbly.

The service and food were excellent, and our allotted ninety minutes flew by. In fact, we were even allowed to overstay for a little while as lunchtime was drawing to a close and outside dusk was already descending over the city. Then we took the elevator back down and retired to our hotel bar.

I half thought we might end up there for the rest of the evening but later on we decided to go out for a walk and ended up in a bar called Marcus Bráu, which had a very pleasant late evening vibe.

And so to my Extras, in order:
One of the views from our hotel;
St Agnes;
Berlin from up high;
Berlin towards the horizon;
Early evening (late afternoon) Fernsehturm;
A rare shot of the Minx; and
Some Berlin grafitti.
