Google Art glasses at Gleneagles
As an artist it is very important to know who your buyers are.
So the new Google art glasses, which I purchased on a recent visit to the States, came in very useful today at the annual Gleneagles art fair.
Mini computers built into the glasses, designed to look like ordinary sunglasses allow you to check out the wealth of potential customers - it takes a quick photo of their outfits then analyses their cost, but more important, since clothes are not necessary a good indicator of wealth, is the ability of the Google art glasses to scan the brainwaves of those near you and you can ascertain whether they are interested in buying art, the type of work they are looking for whether it is figurative, landscape, still life, traditional or something more contemporary.
Their brainwaves are displayed on augmented reality mini screens in front of you and if they are potential buyers the levels are raised.
If the scan shows no brain activity you know they are merely carpet treaders out for an Easter Monday drive.
From today (April 1) these Google art glasses will be on sale in the UK.
No gallery owner or artist can afford to be without a pair. Price £495. Available from Amazon.
