This is RUBBISH - and NO April Fool's Joke!!!!!
We are reminded on an almost daily basis about the dangers of plastics, and plastic waste from such organisations such as:
Endangered Species International
Uk Marine
WWF
We took our usual cycle along the cycle path to Bedford which has been flooded recently so this is the first time in months. As you can see the flood water allowed the plastic litter to collect in the tree branches in flood.
This is the river Ouse
It flows to the sea
Whereas I would like to believe that most people are enlightened and would not place their rubbish anywhere but a BIN, I am saddened by this sight. As I walked this (once) beautiful path I even saw people had taken the time to collect their dog waste only to dump the same waste by the side of the path in the bag they have carefully tied.
And when the next flood comes? Will this be swept away and off to sea? To be tangled and broken down and eventually end up in our food chain?
Will these be the same individuals who claim they are not polluters? That they dispose of their home waste appropriately and segregated into the seperate waste type bins?
Will they complain when they or their offspring develop cancer or future generations have deformities?
SERIOUSLY - DO THEY NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO THIS PLANET?
There are not many plastics now which cannot be recylcled.
And, in all honesty, IT DOES NOT TAKE THAT LONG TO TAKE YOUR WASTE AND DISPOSE OF IT PROPERLY.
Off my soap box now.
I trust you all have had a lovely Easter and that your recycling bins overflow with the excess packaging from the chocolate eggs.
