Lake Zurich
So typical, after a week of mainly bad weather, the day we leave to go home it is the most glorious day with bright blue skies and not a puff of a cloud to be seen!
On the journey back to Zurich airport we passed Lake Zurich (or Zürichsee as it is locally known) and the views across the lake with the snow covered mountain tops and tiny villages was just breath taking. We stopped for a quick photo everyone grumbling that we would miss the plane.
Lake Zurich is formed by the river Linth, which rises in the glaciers of the Tödi Range in Glarus. Its water is very clean and reaches, during summer, temperatures well beyond 20 °C (68 °F). However, in the winter it has sometimes freezes, although the last time this occurred was in 1963 - I bet it was very cold today!
