Goodness , gracious, great ball of???

First things first. Does anyone know what the ball is?

I met up with a fellow Flickr and blipper today. We have been friends for quite a few years now and she has helped me a lot, especially when my mum died.
We try and catch up when I go to Scarborough and have camera days throughout the year.

She lives in a beautiful cottage in Pickering and has two lovely dogs one of which was snuggled up to me

I am so lucky to have her as a friend!!
