Art and life
Of Jim Tinley who enjoyed painting the characters and people of Porthleven.sadly Jim passed away in 2018.his son Joe they put on a retrospective exhibition of his work at Breageside warehouse .I enjoyed his paintings of the people that I knew and now passed.i bought a short video and now I have his book which I so enjoyed. The front cover was a miss May Waters who shared a rear courtyard with the Tinleys. And loved to pop her favourite mint humbugs into the little Tinley boys mouths.explaining to their mother that the humbugs would warm their blood up.this next part made me smile one day when the local coal man arrived with a bag of coal on his back,he found a pair of May's baggy bloomers on the washing line obstructing his access to her coal bunker.he called out wad ee want May alf under weight down each leg.the coalman had a very strong cornish accent.
