Ibis

Much maligned as a relative newcomer from western NSW with a propensity to spread rubbish from bins - hence “bin chicken” - but I’ve revised my opinion. They don’t just eat discarded bread, rice and noodles. As soon as it rains they’re out on the grass eating their natural diet. And they fly huge distances - 2000 km from Sydney to Cairns, even further from Melbourne to Papua New Guinea. The babies are more attractive than the adults, with fluffy rather than bald heads. I still don’t like their skinny red raw underwings but they’ve adapted to city life and are bolder for it.

Thanks for hosting Cailleach.
