Stormy Skies

Whilst we missed the worst of Storm Arwen, it has been wet and windy here for many days. I had planned a walk with H this morning, but we postponed it until the weekend last night. There was a small window of dry weather forecast this morning, so I went to Sheringham for a brisk walk along the prom and a visit to a couple of shops. More paperwork / admin this afternoon.

Day 625 / Day 136 of Step 4 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
9 more cases of the Omicron variant have been detected in England, taking the UK total to 32 (incl 1 in North Norfolk). At least 23 countries have now reported cases. Botswana has reported that 16 out of 19 of their Omicron cases were asymptomatic, the others had mild sympoms. Heathrow has reopened a dedicated terminal for red list travellers. The UK reported 48,374 new cases today. Myeloma UK is urging Scottish and Welsh governments to follow England in allowing patients who are severely immunosuppressed to book their third primary dose providing they have a letter from their GP or clinician (this whole process has been a complete mess). Boris has denied not complying with the Covid restrictions in place when a party was held at No.10 on 18th Dec last year - even if true, it's definitely not ethical given Boris introduced much stricter measures the following day. The WHO chief has said that member states have agreed to start the 'process of drafting and negotiating a new agreement on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response' - excellent news. The National Audit Office has warned that NHS waiting lists for elective care could more than double and reach a horrendous 12m by Mar 2025.
