Ice, Snow, Water, Steam

An interesting day which started with a 40 minute drive to the car dealer in Kramfors. Our car had been a little reluctant to start, giving a very quiet "brrrrr" when I turned the ignition key. After 5 or 6 attempts it suddenly roared to life. It did the same a couple of weeks back. So our lovely car workshop said come in tomorrow at 10:00 o'clock and we'll fit it in for a check.
They checked it, everything was fine, and they optimistically suggested that since they'd poked all the relevant bits maybe the fault wouldn't reappear. We shall see.
We had been thinking of changing our car so while I was there I test drove a slightly smaller hybrid model (extra). Our friend Claire has one of these and we were impressed when we were out in it last autumn. Since she can drive to work and back just on battery she hardly ever needs to buy petrol. We are aware that a camper van is not a good ecological choice, so we'll maybe balance the equation a little by using mostly electric in our car (and buying plant derived diesel for the campervan).
On the way home I took the scenic route along the River Ångermann. Minus 13°C and breezy made walking the last bit to the river's edge a chilly experience. Where the river is still open the water was "steaming".  This picture was taken just after noon so the sun is about as high as it goes in December!
