Together into the unknown
We have one more exhibition to see before we head back home - The Wildlife Photographer of the Year. It’s a firm favourite, and we always try to get to see this. Of course the exhibits are stunning - beautiful and inspiring to see. How inadequate all my nature shots seem in comparison! Particularly humbling are the winners in the junior sections - particularly the Young Wildlife Photographer Winner, 10 year old Vidyun R Hebbar from India who first featured in the competition two years ago when he was 8!

Getting to the exhibition in the National History Museum necessitates a walk through the Earth Hall past the Stegosaurus and the escalator up to the Red Zone galleries - an apparent journey into a giant fiery planet. It’s a long time since we explored the museum with our boys, and we must have gone to previous photography exhibitions via a different route.
While I’m busy trying to capture apocalyptic images, G is focusing on much quieter exhibits and finds a fascinating rock called ruin marble, a stone where layers have formed themselves into random patterns that resemble ruined cities. Quite amazing!

So today’s main - best viewed large - shows a couple apparently ascending into the jaws of the red planet (and a shadowy G lurking below left!) with an extra of ruin marble that G feels should have been the main!
Thank you for the lovely comments, stars and hearts for my Thames shot. I’ve almost caught up on your journals, and hopefully I’ll soon be back to blipping on the right day!
