A very enjoyable day out
We had a lovely day today. We started by walking from our place around to Mission Bay to friends, who took us in their car to the Black Cottage Café in Coatesville where we had lunch. It was great to get out for a drive and then enjoy a delicious lunch and lots of interesting conversation.
As we drove home around the waterfront, a message popped in from mutual friends to say they were at the Akarana Yacht Club, just seconds before we approached the turn-off to the club, so we turned in, parked the car and went in for a drink and a quick catch up with our friends.
There were several Pohutukawa trees surrounding the car park, covered with the most beautiful red blossoms. The Pohutukawa tree is known as the New Zealand Christmas tree and legend has it that the earlier they flower the longer and hotter the summer will be. The blip is of one of the trees and a close up of the beautiful blossom.
There are 106 new community cases today - 93 in Auckland, 3 in Northland, 8 in the Waikato, 1 in Whanganui, and 1 in Christchurch.
