If At First

I was watching Jacqui's arrival into Manchester airport on FlightRadar24.

It is a very addictive website and I can spend ages observing planes all round the world.

I had just seen a Russian plane land at their base in Antarctica, a first for me.

However, I digress.

Ryanair flight RYR42FX was descending below 1000 feet and on course for the runway at Manchester. Down she came, lower and lower, when suddenly I saw the altitude rising sharply and the plane increased speed, turning sharply to the left.

As you can see from the shot of the screen, the pilot thought better of his first attempt at landing and went round again, executing a little twirl on the way.

Jacqui told me later, that the landing was horrendously bumpy and the plane was bouncing around all over the place.

She said it made her feel sick. Me, I would have been terrified!
