Enlightened waste disposal?

Sometimes the actions of others are a bit puzzling. The lamp was obviously being thrown out - did the owner have a pang of conscience that they should have recycled or reused it and by putting it on display halfway into the bin hoped that someone would rescue it? Or maybe they just needed something to prop up the lid?

Once past the bin, we wandered up to Inverleith Park where the Edinburgh Christmas Charity 10k Run was in its final stages. They had around 600 runners, and earlier there had been a 5k run. Great that they had good weather today. I don’t know how well they did yesterday when they held a 10k walk which was timed around the period when the horrid sleety snow came on.
