Memorial Litter
We had a walk across Shoal Hill Common this morning and it was there I saw these two balloons caught in one of the trees.
I took them down to see that they had probably been released to memorialise a young girl, just 12, who was murdered in a Liverpool street recently by other youths. I wondered if they’d been released in Liverpool, some 80 plus miles away. Quite some distance for them to have travelled in the wind. You can understand the strength of emotion that prompted their release, but they had ended up as rubbish, a danger to wildlife and the environment. The news reports of knife crime are awful and seem to be coming much more common, but this is particularly shocking because of the age of the victim.
Afterwards we headed off to a local craft fayre at Weston Park, before having lunch in the brasserie on site.
