Bluejay in recovery mode
This poor dapper jay crashed against our half-moon window this morning. The window has decals of snowflakes on it to prevent accidents like that, but we fear he was being chased by a hawk. He rested on the patio and then up on the doorstep as squirrels gobbled peanuts beside him and sniffed his tail feathers. It took him about 15 minutes to recover. As I kept checking I took the opportunity to photograph him. By that time I knew he would be okay, and the next time I looked, he had flown off, phew.
For the Record,
This day came in sunny and warmer than yesterday. We picked up our weekly bread and pastry order at Mainstay Bakery this morning. Once at home we enjoyed a ham and cheese croissant and coffee before
heading out to deal with the Norway Maple leaves that have finally fallen and blown all over the yard. Lucky for us, T's sister and brother -in-law who live about 20 minutes south of us, invited us for a homemade spaghetti and meatball dinner. We have not eaten or actually been inside there since the beginning of the pandemic. They usually dine with us here on our patio when we get together these days. It was a delicious dinner and we had lots of laughs together. I hope things don't get worse with the new variant, tonight felt so normal.
All hands very wary.
