Water Rail
A cold but sunny day.
After taking Jorgie for a long walk first thing I knuckled down to get on with the most pressing of jobs.
By 3pm we were both glad to get outside again so, predictably I drove to the marshes.
Very low tide provided plenty of fishing egrets but I wanted to find something a bit different.
Water Rails are very shy birds, spending most of the time well hidden in the reed beds. Low tide is always the best time to spot one as they feed in the exposed mud.
Still, I was surprised to see this one on the edge of an open channel giving me the clearest shot of one to date
