Lisbon Lights
Decided, eventually, to come to Lisbon today to see the Christmas lights (and a few other things, like plumbing bits). So glad we made the effort, it's been wonderful. We walked all over and were in Praça do Comércio (the huge square next to the Tagus) when the lights came on, and everyone clapped. All the arches and windows are outlined in lights, and then this huge Christmas tree, and St George's castle lit up on the hill in the background. In the extra, Mike and I, and the lights encircling the square, reflected in one of the baubles on the tree.
And music everywhere, guys playing Cohen and more on cellos, and another one Silent Night on a saw.
And then we wandered into a small restaurant that looked good, Stasha, near Praça de Camões, and it was superb. The food was excellent, the waiters so friendly, and live music by a trio of Brazilians. When we finished our wine, the waiter came by and poured us more from another bottle. And I saw him giving a child on another table who'd been sharing his chocolate mousse with his sister, another mousse for himself.
Gratefuls:
- being able to just come to such a beautiful city
- being moved by the music, we don't have enough music in our lives lately
- all the gorgeous lights and decorations everywhere, wish I could show you them all!
