Together
Didn't venture very far all day. This acclimatising, it can really take it out of you...
When I used to work in a cinema back in the 90s there were loads of occasions when the music that got played in the auditorium before the movie matched the film about to be screened just perfectly. I think one of those finest occasions was actually before I worked there and I was along to see Mike Leigh's 'Naked'. Lights go down, The Fall's 'Mr Pharmacist' blasts out as the curtain opens, music fades as the BBFC certificate comes on screen, film starts, a beautiful presentation from start to finish. Well done projectionist David Rawson, who I soon came to know and found out that he'd been the man on duty that day.
Consequently, even these days when I listen to music I often think to myself "What film could you play this before?" and so I was lounging around with my headphones on listening to some moody, neo-goth type atmospherics, especially this track, I was thinking along the lines of a beautiful, if doomed film about a couple of lovers that would fit the bill. I came up with this one. I think it'd work.
