pillboxes
Four in a row. Made by the Germans during the Second World War. Decorated by somebody from a much younger generation. A while ago someone wrote on it: Zimmer frei" (vacancy). Possibly as a reference to the many German guests who still come to the Netherlands every summer. The Dutch coast had more of these pillboxes, and it was and is very difficult to remove them. These are inland along the river "de Maas". Now they are part of the landscape and a reminder of what once was.
I took this shot from a fast running train, so I was lucky to catch them all in one shot.
