Craigerne House

This is Craigerne House. It sits on the southern edge of Peebles on the slope of the hills as they start to rise towards Cademuir. From 1956 - 1989 it was a Barnardo's residential school for boys. In the early 2000s the house and grounds were sold and developed for housing. It was sympathetically done and the open ground around the house including its specimen trees and woodland remain. They must have been a haven for the boys who stayed at the school and its easy to imagine them running wildly around the grounds and climbing the trees, as do the children who now live in the house and area around it.
