It's been 17 years since I finished University and tomorrow I am finally going back to do my Masters. It's taken me a lot longer than planned but life takes you in al sorts of directions.
I arrived on Fontainebleau today and had the afternoon off. So I decided to take a walk around the town and learnt that it is named after a fresh water spring in the area.
You can't miss the Chateaux that dominates Fontainebleau. Built by the Kings of France has the arrest state gardens with over 55,000 acres.
In January 1919, the leaders of 32 countries net in France to bring peace to the world. Lloyd George was instrumental in proposing the Fontainebleau Memorandum paving the way for a more lenient peace treaty that would not destroy Germany. However, the Germans were forced to sign the Treaty of Versailles.
The Palace become a German Headquarter in the Second World War.
