It’s the kind of weather…
…when gum boots with holes in the toes have to be replaced pronto. These are a Kiwi classic: Red Bands.
A friend told me when I moved to NZ that I couldn’t be a true Kiwi until I’d worn through a pair of Red Bands…which he had just given me for Xmas. 13 years later and I’ve achieved it!
The rain goes on and on and on. It’s not been falling quite all day, but for long enough to ensure very wet conditions underfoot.
So Bean and I headed over to Moeraki for a long lunch with friends, and to meet their new puppy: a 12 week old huntaway. She harried Bean, who eventually growled and put her in her place. But what a sweetie :-) Huge paws and ears far too big for her body!
In a dry spell we walked along Barracuda Bay and saw fur seals, oystercatchers and a chick, mollymawks and gannets out at sea…and hundreds of rabbits (on land). No orcas.
It was a good way to spend a wet day. And the new gum boots are excellent.
