It All Hangs on a String

It all hangs on a string is perhaps a metaphor for Christmas. Dire warnings of the rampant spread of the new virus variant is once again impacting on our lives in ways that we had not anticipated a few weeks ago. We have not put our tree up yet and feel a bit unenthusiastic. We will though transfer it from the garden next weekend. It has served us well, this being the 5th or sixth year I think. The Christmas decoration hanging on a string has a wonderful aroma. Combined with the greenery and scent of the tree we should at least be able to enjoy the smell, unless we succumb to the virus!
