Knife Angel.
We had business up in Carlisle as had Kanyl so we decided to make a day of it. I hadn't heard that the Knife Angel was in Carlisle. I heard about it just before we set off. Clearly, as we were passing it had to be a blip.
For anybody who hasn't heard of the Knife Angel here is a little information. The 8 m (27') statue is made by Alfie Bradley and the British Ironworks Centre Oswestry. It is made from 100,000 knives handed in under various knife amnesties and from the Police (many still in evidence tubes). Rather horrifyingly 30% of the knives had traces of "bodily fluids" on them.
Since its creation in 2019 it has toured various cities in the UK, 16 so far. Next, it goes to Barrow (in Furness) and then I think Coventry. The Angel is part of the National Youth Anti Violence Programme.
