Sun!
After a couple of weeks of nothing but cloud and rain, the sun came out briefly this afternoon, so I thought I'd take a photo of my little 'Remembrance soldier' in the garden in the sun. It wasn't enough to fully dry the two lots of washing completely that I'd hung out, too much moisture in the air I think. I wrote and posted half of my xmas cards today, will do the other half tomorrow. I watched The Unforgivable on Netflix this afternoon, an excellent performance by Sandra Bullock.
Day 636 / Day 3 of Plan B (for my record only)
The UK's COVID alert level has been raised to Level 4 on the advice of the the UK's 4 Chief Medical Officers (the highest level is 5). The UK has reported 1,239 new cases of Omicron today, nearly twice that reported yesterday (total is now 3,137). Nadhim Zahawi says that 'one-third of infections in London are Omicron' and that the number of cases in the community could be up to 10 times those reported. He also said that there are hospitalisation cases of people with the Omicron variant (hospitalisations always lag infection by 2-3 weeks). A Govt Covid advisor in South Africa says Omicron cases are doubling every 1 to 1.5 days and that they're seeing higher cases of Omicron infection in 'younger individuals'. Prof Andrew Hayward says that Omicron 'maybe somewhere between twice and possibly three times as infectious' as Delta.
