Gaudete
Third Sunday of Advent, the Gaudete (from the Latin for rejoice) one, but must admit I didn't feel at all joyful in church this morning... I do like this view of Mourão as we exit the building, though, and the Lake to the right.
Went for a tintinho at the Adega, and then to Chaminé for lunch with Cecílio and Ermelinda. We used to go to Chaminé every Saturday night for dinner with Padre Luís, but haven't been in ages, basically because it's quite small, and no through ventilation, but it's where C and E wanted to go, so we took the risk, especially as no cases in Mourão atm.
While we were outside the Adega, we saw a white van careening the wrong way up a one-way street, and heard two almighty bangs as it crashed into the sides of two parked cars, and then accelerated away and out of town. Everyone knows who it was, and also that the police won't tackle it... the problem is the increasing resentment against folk who get away with this sort of behaviour.
Gratefuls:
- an absolutely beautiful sunny day, up to 21C
- C and E being good (and sympathetic) listeners
- tentative plans for after Christmas, something to look forward to
and this, have a listen, it's great:
Rejoice, rejoice! Christ is born
Of the Virgin Mary –
Rejoice!
