Golden Balls
I bought these gold painted wicker balls in Habitat years ago. I usually put them on top of one of the bookcases but have never arranged them like this before. It suddenly occurred to me that they're appropriate as they represent Saint Nicholas, the original Santa Claus. St Nicholas is the patron saint of children and the three golden balls represent the three bags of gold he gave to three poor girls to save them from prostitution.
I made another big batch of mince pies this morning, including some mini ones for my son-in-law who likes one with a drink but doesn't want to over-indulge.
