Testing testing……
both the ham and the time
Slept ok, was awake early though…..slow to come light, a grey and miserable day. Didn't have anything specific to do this morning so once I had had breakfast decided to get out for a couple of hours at least.
First port of call was Costa, a nice cappuccino and a little while spent catching up on a few journals. Next it was to the butchers, a few things for this weeks meals, cooking for more than just myself on Wednesday and Saturday :-) Then a quick look at the desserts in Iceland, not somewhere I normally go, but wanted something for the little children and those who dont like Christmas pudding…..got what looks like a lovely raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake.
Drove back home, put everything away, took the ham out of the fridge to slice some for dinner tonight, with a salad and a few fries. Then made myself scrambled eggs on toast for my lunch.
As I sat down, my ipad flashed up a picture of hub, with the words “My love, over the years” across the bottom of it……I clicked on it, it was a slide show, set to music, that I presume fb or ipad has pulled together from my photo gallery……well that just about pushed me over the edge !
Today its 5 years since my mum passed away, and I had only a while earlier put a post on fb, with a lovely pic of my mum with hub, saying I hoped that her and dad were “showing hub the ropes up there”……..I’ve been feeling a bit close to the edge for a few days, so this just gave me that final nudge. Sat there bawling, trying to eat my scrambled eggs, not a good look lol!
Found it hard to get myself together …..was 10 minutes late logging on for work, realised I should have been on a Teams call at 1, sent a message to apologise, rescheduled for 4, by which time I didn't look like Rudolph!! As is usual I gradually felt better as the day has worn on.
The ham for dinner was delish……its a little trial run, pre a much bigger piece for Christmas. Glazed it with a fig chutney, mixed with soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce and chilli flakes……worked a treat, sticky, sweet, salty and spicy :-)
Been to camera club tonight…..a presentation from a chap who has been photographing old shop fronts since the early 80s, a project to capture them before they closed down and supermarkets took over. Really interesting.
Im now sat propped up in bed, with a cuppa, writing up my blip, before I fall asleep.
Im working again tomorrow, on a non working day, as its our monthly team meeting. No doubt pages of notes as Minute taker :-/ that will then need transcribing…….we are having a festive fun hour afterwards, all on Teams of course…..a fun fact from each of the team members, that we then have to guess who it belongs to, a film/music quiz and a few rounds of Articulate, whilst drinking tea/coffee and eating mince pies, hope,it,goes, off ok, its all down to me ;-)
