Nine days ago I was checking the Christmas gifts when I opened the box and noticed that the amaryllis was trying to escape.  It was no use now waiting to give it away at Christmas so I planted it and although its growth is stunted, two flowers have opened with two more to come and another bud.  We are enjoying it instead as well as this one.
