Instant Sunshine
Well, not exactly instant but the brightest thing here today. Raised from seed, it's in it's third season, flowering lust over two years from sowing. A hybrid. Narcissus cantabricus petunioides, white flowered with a flared corona making it look a little petunia-like, crossed with a form of Narcissus romieuxii called Atlas Gold, a good deep yellow originating in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. All the bulbs to flower so far have been different, this perhaps the nicest. I'll separate them out next summer and we'll see if this little one has the hybrid vigour that can deliver a good rate of increase.
Feeling rough today after a run of very late nights, I took it gently. I did wrap a couple of presents and get them in the post including one of Ruth's amazing paper creations which is a present for her Grandma, my Mum. I'd add an extra pic but it would give the game away ... maybe another day! Meg had a walk down Gwalia as it got dark, very dark by the time we turned back. Good job she's got some white about her or I'd never have been able to keep track of her!
Good news on the booster front, a three and a half day walk-in clinic in Dolgellau, about twenty miles drive but it's where we expected to go. The downside is that the days are mostly while we were due to be away, the one that isn't is the half day and Jamie has blood tests booked at the surgery here part way through. Also, with demand so high and availability so limited I suspect there may be more people than slots some days - a long wait certainly. Hey-Ho, it's good news whatever the wait time.
