Catalan language

There are more arguments going on around schooling and language. My grandson attends a Catalan school and speaks Catalan.
I am confused in this area as I understand nothing of spoken Catalan and struggle with the written form.
Spent several hours this morning doing a supermarket online order. Very challenging for my weak Spanish and we’ll see what turns up tomorrow!
