Mort's Cabin
Thought I’d take a photo of this lovable bench in the neighborhood when I saw “Mort” was here so we had a nice chat…. actually this is Darold, Mort is his Dad and the funky shop only open on Saturday refers to his Dad’s cabin and the happy PNW memories of spending time there as a child. He’s had the shop since 1998 but in this location a bit less. The bench is maybe 3 years old…an inspiration of Darold’s to give to the community…this is a bus stop so people can sit and wait and Darold drove a bus for many years so he felt it was especially appropriate. He found an artist from Bellingham (Tomas Vrba) that only uses salvaged wood and commissioned the mother bear with her cub and the Eagle… the cougar tied them together later. He has invited hundreds of people to carve their initials or some memory in it. Another great addition to this neighborhood! decked out for the holiday. HERE is a photo from my other journal before the cougar...
Darold insisted on taking our photo (extra)…I had just been to the PO so mask still attached and we were headed for the food shop at end of our 2 mile walk so H has bags for that.
