Leave The Rocks Where They Belong

"'On the rocks" is an expression that originated from putting ice-cold, volcanic pumice in whisky. Volcanic pumice cools the drink down through efficient heat exchange because of its sponge-like structure, AND it doesn't add water.

Pouring whisky over ice alters the flavour profile. Apart from tending to cloud the overall complexity and intensity of the spirit, ice increases the fruitiness at the expense of other nuances...

Adding ice is a perversion of American origin, which no self-respecting whisky-lover should ever do. So there, glad to get that off my chest.
